journey to Alina Hope
We have finally reached our journey to Alina that has taken us 5 years to achieve. We made it to Donestk last night and got into our hotel by 11:30 pm. We went to see Alina in her orphanage in Makeevka this morning and it was amazing to see her in the place where she has lived for 7 years. What a joy it was to see her excitement as she showed me her small cabinet where everything she has in the world is stored. We saw her desk where she does her homework after school everyday (we saw her school where she walks with the other children). We saw her bed in the room where 15 other girls sleep. There are 46 children in her orphanage which makes it one of the better ones in the area-there are about 4 or 5 other orphanages in this region where usually 200 or more children reside. We then spent the day together eating out-always a joy for her since she doesn't like the food at the orphanage. Then we found a park near our hotel and played there and took many pictures so she can show her friends at the orphanage where she was. Now we are in the room and she is playing a game on the ipad. Of course she has already asked me for an ipod. What she wants for her 12th birthday-which she turned a couple of weeks ago-is a guinea pig. I guess we will be getting a guinea pig when we get home. We have to take her back to orphanage tonight-they wont let her spend the night. We will get her for the day tomorrow again and then we fly home on Sunday am early. We will be back in 2 weeks for another court date. It is just so good to see her and be with her-she is excited and cant wait to come home with us. More later. God is faithful and this journey has been amazing.

I am SO happy that you can finally be with Alina! I knew she would be jumping up & down to see you both again! Now you can see what I meant about Makeevka being the nicest orphanages I have visited in Ukraine! It is small & all the kids know each other, although its still hard to sleep with 15 other girls!! Enjoy every moment with her & this beginning of your new family together!!
ReplyDeleteGive her a big hug from me & Katrina!!
Love & Blessings,
Maggie
Maggie,
DeleteThank you so much for all you have done to bring us here. I was talking with Angelina how it started 5 years ago with Natasha and meeting Valerie and then she told me about you and Frontier Horizon and you going to find Alina for us. 5 years later I can't believe we are finally here to adopt. Without you it would not have happened-we would have given up. God bless you for your perseverance.

Maggie,
DeleteI hope you get this. It is our last day in Kiev. We are staying almost right next to the ballet house in an apartment that Nick found for us. I was trying to find your hotel. Is is called the Grand Hotel? or La Dena? We spent the day at the clinic and embassy with Dema and his family -Rachel and Ivo and the 3 they are adopting. I remember Lyra from the airport when I helped you at Christmas and brought the girl for you. Very nice family. Dema couldn't remember the name of the hotel you stayed at either. We are on the same side of the street as the Ballet house and we are halfway down the block towards the McDonalds. Just wondering where your hotel is. This is a great location because we have food and restuarants and I have been able to eat in the apartment the whole time-still don't feel great and can't eat out. The apartment is actually nice. It was hard being around Dema and knowing how much less this family paid then we are paying. Nick charged me $70 to drive from airport. $60 to clinic and then 300 grynas to wait 3 hours. But Angelina did pull it off and is getting us out before the May holidays and got it done in 3 days with clinic, embassy and passport. Rachel and Ivo were charged $20 for taxi. We have to let it go and celebrate Alina-what a miracle God has done and she is ours. Thanks for all your help. Couldn't have done it without you!
